Underwater Imagery

Phoebe Fitz is a Miami-based artist specializing in underwater photography and cinematography. Her images explore the coalescence of body and nature, presenting a womb-like marine environment both otherworldly and familiar. Curves of the body merge with ripples in the water’s surface, as the water element serves not just as a backdrop but a true collaborator in the making of her images, with bubbles, distorted reflections, and dancing light beams bringing a sense of wonder and magic to each suspended moment.

Through submersion in both surreal natural landscapes and man-made pools, Fitz combines her background in natural history filmmaking with abstract, imaginative depictions of the female form to create works of art that pay homage to the life-giving, nurturing nature of both women and water.
